Understanding Spiritual Realities

It can be challenging for us to understand why some people simply do not "see" spiritual truths. Scripture tells us clearly:

"But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned." — 1 Corinthians 2:14 (NKJV)

Those who have not received Christ remain in spiritual darkness. Without salvation, they have no covenant relationship with God — no promise of protection (Psalm 91), no assurance of provision (Philippians 4:19), no promise of healing (Isaiah 53:5; 1 Peter 2:24), and most importantly, no gift of eternal life (John 3:16; Acts 4:12). God, in His mercy, may still touch or intervene in their lives, but the covenant blessings belong to His children.

The Call to Power

Jesus didn't leave His followers powerless. Before ascending, He gave a clear command:

"Behold, I send the Promise of My Father upon you; but tarry in the city of Jerusalem until you are endued with power from on high." — Luke 24:49

"But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me…" — Acts 1:8

All believers receive the Holy Spirit at salvation (Romans 8:9), but Jesus spoke of an additional experience: the baptism in the Holy Spirit — an overflow of power for ministry and boldness. This empowerment enables believers to move in spiritual gifts (1 Corinthians 12), to pray in new tongues (Acts 2:4), and to operate in supernatural boldness and authority.

Some believers, though genuinely saved and loved by God, have not yet received this baptism. Sometimes it is due to lack of teaching, misunderstandings, or fear. While it is true that Jesus commanded His first followers to "wait" for this power, today, we receive it by faith as a free gift.

A Gentle Invitation

If you are a believer but have not yet received the baptism in the Holy Spirit, I encourage you to seek it prayerfully. It is not about striving but about surrender. Jesus desires to fill you to overflowing so you can be an effective witness and live victoriously.

"If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!" — Luke 11:13

🙏

Prayer

Father, thank You for saving me and calling me into Your family. I ask You now to fill me with Your Holy Spirit — to overflow me with Your power, boldness, and gifts. I want to be a true witness of Jesus, walking in all that You have for me. I receive this gift by faith. Thank You for empowering me to live a life that glorifies You. In Jesus' name, amen.

Reflection

  • Have I fully surrendered every area of my life to the Lord?

  • Am I open to receiving more of what God has for me, even if it stretches my understanding?

  • How can I support others in their journey to receive the Holy Spirit?
